The Heart of Kenya Safari Itinerary

Day 1 - Arrive - Nairobi

Fly into Nairobi where you will be shuttled to The Windsor Golf & Country Club. Unpack your belongings and head out for an afternoon tee time at their championship golf course. If golf isn’t your thing Windsor offers a wide variety of activities which will suit just about anyone. End your evening dining like royalty at the Windsor Room restaurant.

Day 2 - Nairobi

Today we will take you to the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, a safe haven for orphaned elephants, rhinos and other animals. To date they have successfully hand-raised over 150 infant elephants and effectively reintegrated them back into the wild. In the afternoon we will take you to Bomas of Kenya, a cultural hotspot that has daily traditional dance and acrobat shows. After the show head back to Windsor Country Club for cocktails at the Library Bar.

Day 3 - Nairobi - Aberdare National Park

Venture off to central Kenya on your way to Aberdare National Park. Check into The Ark, resembling and named after Noah’s Ark, The Ark comprises of three decks with numerous balconies and lounges that provide a superb location for wildlife to be seen. After lunch we will sweep you off on your first game drive around Aberdare. Just after sunset head back to The Ark for dinner and fine wine at the Aberdare Country Club.

Day 4 - Aberdare National Park - Samburu Game Reserve

Head out in the morning on your way to Samburu Game Reserve. Check into Sarova Shaba lodge, set along the banks of the Ewaso Ng’iro River, Sarova is laid out around the natural springs that flow into the river. The Lodge has a virtual mini forest of indigenous trees, a fish pond and a large free form swimming pool. After you check in and get a bite to eat, then we will take you on an adventure around Samburu in search of large game. Head back in time for dinner at the Surpelei Restaurant that overlooks the pool.

Day 5 - Samburu Game Reserve

Today will consist of game drives in two different parks. Start with a morning drive through Samburu Game reserve in search of the elusive cheetah, who like to hunt in the early mornings. After the drive, head back to Sarova for lunch and then off you go to Buffalo Springs Game Reserve. Buffalo Springs is a great place to see crocs and hippos lounging on the riverbanks. After sunset return to Sarova and relax at the Chemi Chemi Bar, enjoying exotic wines from all over the world.

Day 6 - Samburu National Park - Sweetwaters Game Reserve

Venture off to Sweetwaters Game Reserve home to over 70 endangered black rhinos. Check into the Sweetwaters Tented Camp, settle into your room before heading off to Jane Goodall’s Chimpanzee Sanctuary. Spend a few hours visiting the chimps before we set off on an afternoon game drive in search of the elusive black rhino, if you are very lucky you may also run across one of the five white rhinos that still roam the park. Finish your stay with dinner at the Rhino Room, a restaurant with floor to ceiling windows perfect for game viewing.

Day 7 - Sweetwaters Game Reserve - Lake Nakuru National Park

Pack your bags in the morning and head off to the Lake Elmenteita Camp just outside of Lake Nakuru National Park. This bird watchers paradise is home to hundreds of thousands of flamingos. The surface of the shallow lake is often hardly recognizable due to the continually shifting mass of pink. Enjoy the view from Baboon Cliff, the best vantage point to take in this extraordinary occurrence. In the evening enjoy dinner at camp, overlooking Lake Elmenteita.

Day 8 - Lake Nakuru National Park - Maasai Mara National Park

Say farewell to your flamingo friends and head off to Maasai Mara National Park. Check in to the Mara Serena Lodge, set high on a bush cloaked hill with long views over the savannah and  the winding coils of the hippo filled Mara River. Mara Serena Lodge provides guests with a ringside seat to the greatest wildlife show on earth, the legendary migration of the wildebeest. Get comfortable because this will be your home for the next three days.

Day 9 - Maasai Mara National Park

Wake up early for a morning game drive in search for the big five. The Maasai Mara gives adventurers the one of the best chances to see all five in the same place. In the afternoon you can choose between another game drive or relaxing at your lodge. After dinner we will take you on a night game drive, viewing wildlife in a completely different way. Head back to the lodge for a late evening cocktail before settling in for the night.

Day 10 - Maasai Mara National Park

Today you will go on an adventure to view the great migration up close and personal. This is a full day game drive, lunch will be provided on board. The Great Migration is one of the most impressive natural events worldwide, involving some 1,300,000 wildebeest, 500,000 gazelles, 97,000 Topi, 18,000 elands, and 200,000 zebras. Exhausted from the full day drive, retreat back to Mara Serena Lodge and prepare for your flight in the morning.

Day 11 - Maasai Mara National Park - Nairobi

Head of in the morning and catch a flight to Nairobi. Today will be spent visiting the Nairobi National Museum, home to african art galleries, botanical gardens and many shops. Search the shops for relics to take home for you or as gifts for loved ones. In the evening you will be treated to a farewell dinner at the Tamarind Restaurant which has been voted restaurant of the year multiple times. After dinner you will head of to the airport for your overnight flight home. Asante.
